After the launch of Mi Airdots in the true wireless earphones market, Xiaomi came up with the new Redmi Airdots. Yes, the sub-brand that focuses on quality products at a budget price.
Redmi Airdots comes with new Bluetooth 5.0, 40mah battery capacity of earbuds and 300mah of the charging case. The buds weight 4.1 g each, 35.4g with the case and are priced at 99Yuan in China. You can check detailed specs here
I have been using different Bluetooth earphones from about three years of a Chinese OEM named QCY, and the thing I love the most about them is the convenience of using them.
The major arguments against the Bluetooth earphone are that we have to connect them every time to the source device, charge them again and again, and the last one is that they do not sound good as compared to wired earphones in the same budget specially when BASS is the criteria of comparison.
So how well the Redmi Airdots overcome these problems?
Let’s have a look..

Box Contents
The Redmi Airdots comes in a Black colored case, additional ear tips, and a user guide.
DESIGN
The charging box size is 62×40×27.2mm. Umm, you guys dint got it right!!
It easily fits in your palm, here is a pic to help you figure it out.
The buds are very comfortable and lightweight.
I was quite concerned about the fit, but to my surprise, they fit very well and do NOT fall from the ears at all.
Yes, I have used them while jogging and running, and they stay securely in the ears because of the in-ear design.
Connectivity, Battery Life and Charging
And now the Best feature of these earbuds is that you don’t have to connect them again and again by pressing the button to switch it on.
Instead, as soon you pick them up from the case they turn on and automatically connects to the phone required the Bluetooth is active on your phone.
The buds have a 40mah battery each which gives a playback of around 3 hours at 50-70 % volume level.
It takes around 1:30 hours to charge the buds and 2 hours for the case.A fully charged case can charge the earbuds 3 times. You just have to place the earbuds in the case, and they start charging.
So with a 100% charged case and earbuds you have around 12 hours of playtime.

AUDIO QUALITY
Coming to the sound quality, you cannot compare them with wired headphones, and considering the price point, they sound really good and loud enough.
The vocals are clear but are not bass-heavy.But the thing is you can’t expect bass in budget wireless earphones.
Well, to be honest, I have not used them for gaming. So have no idea about the latency while gaming. But didn’t had any latency issues while listening to music or watching videos.
Cons
- The average built quality of the buds.
- The joint between the case and the lid is quite sensitive, and you have to be careful while opening the case.
- Lack of bass
- Lack of Volume and Track change controls.
